How to stop answering the same five questions every stay

23 August 2026 · 2 min read

Every host knows the rhythm. Friday, 4pm: "What's the WiFi?" Friday, 9pm: "How does the TV work?" Saturday, 8am: "Which bin goes out?" The questions are not unreasonable — they are the same five questions because every stay genuinely needs those five answers.

The fix is not answering faster. It is putting the answer where the question happens.

Where questions actually happen

A guest wondering about bins is standing at the bins. A guest who wants the WiFi is on the sofa with a phone in hand. Nobody is at the folder in the kitchen drawer — which is why the folder in the kitchen drawer, however beautiful, doesn't cut the messages down.

Three placements do the work:

  1. A link before arrival. Send the guidebook link with the check-in details, two days out. Half the questions ("what time can we get in?", "where do we park?") happen before the stay starts.
  2. A QR code inside the property. By the door, on the fridge, near the router. A guest who can scan a sticker will do that before texting a stranger — texting your host feels like an imposition to most guests, which is why the message arrives apologetically at 9pm rather than at the moment of the question.
  3. The same answers, searchable. Whatever holds your answers, the guest has to be able to find "bins" without reading nine pages. Paper can't search; a phone can.

Write answers, not essays

The other half of the problem is answers that technically exist but can't be found or used:

Let the odd question through

The goal is not zero messages — a guest with a real problem should always reach you, and a quick, human reply to a real problem is what earns the five-star review. The goal is that your phone only rings for things that need a human.

That is exactly the job we built QuietStay to do: one link with everything guests need, a concierge that answers the routine questions from your own content day and night, and the real ones still reaching you. See what yours would look like — paste your listing link and it builds itself.

QuietStay turns your listing into a guest guidebook with a concierge that answers questions like these, so they stop reaching your phone. Start free.
