Help Your guidebook

Setting it up

How do I write my house rules?

Open your House rules section and type each rule on its own row — every row becomes one bubble for guests. Tap the emoji at the start of a row to choose its icon and colour, and drag rows to reorder them.

House rules are not a paragraph. Each one is a separate bubble a guest can take in at a glance.

Add and edit rules

  1. Open House rules from the menu, or any box named Rules.
  2. Type into the row that says Add a rule — this becomes one bubble and press Enter.
  3. Click any existing row to edit its wording. It saves when you click away.
  4. Drag the handle at the left of a row to reorder. The × at the right removes it.

Icons and colours

Tap the emoji at the start of a row to open the picker: twenty icons and six colours (blue, green, amber, purple, grey, red), then Done.

Leave it and the wording decides. A rule starting No, Never, Don't or Do not becomes an amber warning bubble; everything else becomes a blue information bubble.

More than one group of rules

A new guidebook starts with two boxes — General and The small print. The box title is shown to guests as a heading above its bubbles, unless the title is generic (House rules, Rules, Details, The details), in which case it is left off. Add another box for a different group, such as Hot tub rules.

What guests see

The bubbles in your order, with their icons and colours. If every rules box is empty, guests read Your host hasn't added the house rules yet. — and House rules is one of the eight items on the Finish your guidebook checklist.

If a rule will not save

Watch the toolbar: it should read Saved. If it says some changes did not save, see changes aren't saving, or reply to any email from QuietStay and it reaches a person.
