How it works

What is the difference between a paid extra and a free request?

The Type box on each item decides it. A paid item charges the card straight away; an approval item waits for your yes and then emails a payment link; a free request is just a message to you; and an information card has no button at all.

Every item has a Type. It changes what the guest sees, whether a card is charged, and whether you have to do anything.

The five types

Changing a paid item to free

Pick one of the free types and the price is cleared when you save. Until you press Save wording & price the old price is still live — the editor shows it crossed out so you can see what saving will do.

A price of nothing is not allowed

If you leave the price empty on a paid type, saving is refused with "Give it a price, or change the type to 'Free request'." Type a price, or change the Type.

If an item behaves differently to what you expected

Open it in Extras & requests and check the Type box first — it is the setting that decides everything else. If it still does not match, reply to any email from QuietStay and it reaches a person.

Still stuck? Reply to any email from us — it reaches a person, not a form, and we answer every one.
