Left off, your guidebook shows one fixed entry code to every guest — fine for a lockbox you rarely change. Switched on, each booking gets its own code and a guest only ever sees theirs.
Set it up
- Open Access codes in the sidebar and pick the property. The tile shows how many upcoming stays it has and how many still need a code.
- Tick Different code each guest.
- Paste your iCal export link in the box and press Sync calendar. You get "Synced — X new, Y updated. Now set a code for each."
- Type the code in the Code box on each stay, or use the random codes button below.
- Add anything the guest should read with their code in Note for this guest — for example "Cleaner in until 4:30, use the side gate".
You can also add a stay by hand at the bottom: arrival, departure, surname (optional) and a code.
Random codes
When stays are missing a code, a button appears: Random codes for N stays. It fills every missing code on a current or upcoming stay with a random 4-digit one, kept different from the other codes live on that door, and emails the list to the account's owners and admins so you can programme the keypad. You also get a push notification if you have those switched on.
If nothing needs doing it says "Nothing to do — every upcoming stay already has a code." It can be used up to 20 times an hour per property.
Worth knowing
- The Internal name box at the top is only ever seen by you.
- A stay with no code shows a code missing badge — that guest cannot unlock anything.
- Cancelled bookings are ignored, and never unlock a code.
If you cannot change these settings
"Couldn't change that — you may not have edit rights on this property" means your role is read-only here. Ask an owner or admin on the account, or reply to any email from QuietStay.
