The setting lives in Access codes, on the property, and applies to the entry code and anything else you have marked as a locked detail.
The three rules
- Only guests who confirm their booking — surname + arrival date. The strongest. A guest types the surname on the booking and their arrival date, and the details only open inside the window below.
- Set for their stay — opens before check-in, locks after check-out. Nothing for the guest to type. The details appear a set number of hours before check-in and lock again after they have left, so the link is only live for the stay it belongs to.
- Anyone with the link, at any time. Nothing is asked and nothing expires. Anyone who has ever had the link — guests from last year, and anyone they forwarded it to — can still see your door code today.
The window
For the first two rules there is a box: Opens [ ] hours before check-in, 72 by default. Anything from 1 to 720 hours is accepted. Both rules need your bookings on file; with no upcoming bookings the panel warns you that nobody can unlock anything.
When a booking has no surname yet
Calendar feeds carry dates but no names, so with the surname rule you also choose what happens when a guest tries to register themselves on an unnamed booking:
- Off — only guests you have named can unlock. A booking with no surname stays locked until you add one.
- Automatic — a guest who gives the right arrival date unlocks straight away, and you are told each time.
- Ask me first (recommended) — the name is saved and you approve it before the code shows. Safer, but a guest at the door waits on you.
A surname you type on a stay, or one your PMS sends, always works whichever option is on. Approve, or undo, a registration on the booking in Calendar & bookings.
