Uploads are checked before anything leaves your computer, so you see the reason straight away, under the Add image button.
"That image is over 5 MB — please resize it and try again."
The limit is 5 MB per image, for every image in the guidebook: cover, logo and card photos. Photos straight off a camera and long screenshots are the usual offenders.
- Save or export a smaller copy of the photo. Around 2000 pixels on the long edge looks sharp on any phone.
- Select Add image again and pick the smaller copy.
"Please choose a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC or AVIF image."
The file is not one of those types — a PDF, a video, or a document with a picture in it. Export or screenshot it as a JPG or PNG first, then upload that.
"Upload failed — try again."
Anything else the upload returned, most often a connection that dropped part-way. Try again, ideally on a stronger connection. If you are a viewer on the account you cannot change anything — the editor says so in an orange bar at the top — so ask an owner or admin for editor access.
What happens to the old photo
When you replace an image, the new one is stored and the previous file is removed. There is no gallery of past uploads to fall back on, so keep your own copy of anything you might want again.
If it still will not upload
Try a different photo to see whether it is that one file or every file. If every file fails, reply to any email from QuietStay with the file name and the message you see, and it reaches a person.
