The line under the address box tells you where you stand. There are five things it can say.
"Taken — try another"
That address already belongs to another guidebook, which may not be yours — the check runs across every host. Make it more specific: hot-tub-lodge-whitby, rose-cottage-2, or your business name plus the property. The check runs again as you type.
"Use at least 3 characters"
What is left after cleaning has to be three characters or more. Cleaning happens as you type: spaces and underscores become hyphens, anything that is not a lowercase letter, number or hyphen is dropped, and hyphens at the start and end are removed. So The Lodge! becomes the-lodge, but -a- leaves only one character and is refused.
"Checking availability…" and "Available"
The check waits until you stop typing, so a moment of "Checking availability…" is normal. Save link only becomes pressable once it says Available.
"Couldn't save — try again"
The address passed the check but the save was refused. Two real causes:
- You are a viewer on this account, not an editor. Viewers cannot change anything; ask an owner or admin for editor access.
- The connection dropped. Try again.
"Publish" says "Set a guest link first"
A guidebook cannot be published without an address, so the Publish button sends you to Property details with that message. Set the address there, then publish.
If it still will not save
Try a plainly unusual address, such as your property name plus four digits. If even that is refused, the problem is not the address — reply to any email from QuietStay, saying which property and what you typed, and it reaches a person.
