The same refusal turns up wherever a save is blocked — Access codes, the Turnovers board, Store & upsells (Nothing changed — you may not have permission to edit the shop) and the guest-list settings. The wording moves around slightly. The cause is always the same.
What it means
Every save is checked in the database, not only on screen, so being able to open a page does not mean you can save from it. Viewers can read guidebooks, guest notes and activity but change nothing. Editors change guidebooks, the store, the calendar and messages, but never billing, team or settings. Owners and admins do all of it. Nothing you typed was written, so nothing is half-changed — reload the page to see the true state.
Find out which role you have
- Open Settings. If you are not an admin, a line at the top of the page says You're a … on this account. Some areas (billing, team, payouts) are limited to owners and admins.
- An owner or admin can also open Settings, then Team members, where every member is listed with their role beside their email.
Getting a higher role
There is no button that changes an existing member's role. An owner or admin has to press Remove beside you in Team members, then create a fresh invite with the role you need — the Role box on the invite form sets it. Your guest data, guidebooks and notes are on the account, not on you, so nothing is lost by being re-invited.
If you are the owner and still see this
Then something else refused the write. Reload, try the change once more, and if it repeats, reply to any email from QuietStay saying which screen and which field. See also What can an admin, an editor and a viewer each do?.
