Help Messages

When it goes wrong

My automated messages aren't reaching anyone

An automated message can only be emailed to a guest whose address you hold. Calendars from Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo carry dates and sometimes a surname, never an email - so unless a booking system supplies one, or the guest registers in your guidebook, nothing is sent.

Nothing is ever sent blind. If your calendar holds no guest emails, your messages have nobody to go to, and that is the usual cause.

Where a guest email comes from

An iCal calendar on its own gives you dates and, at best, a surname. See Guest names are missing or masked.

Work through this list

  1. The property is published and has a live guest link.
  2. A calendar is connected, so the booking exists, and the booking is not cancelled.
  3. The booking is matched to a contact - either the guest registered against it, or the surname on the booking matches exactly one contact name. Two possible matches and it is skipped rather than guessed.
  4. That contact has an email address. SMS steps need a phone number and an SMS pack instead.
  5. The message is not paused, and its Applies to covers that property.
  6. Win-back messages after checkout - a second after-checkout message, or any message containing {code} or {booklink} - count as marketing, so they only go to guests who agreed to hear about offers.

Meanwhile

Use Messages then Quick replies to paste the same wording into the guest's Airbnb, Booking.com or WhatsApp thread.

If it still sends nothing

Reply to any email from QuietStay with the property and a booking date, and a person will check what the run saw.
